Lunch Webinars - Week 43: Conversations While on the Move

As we enter week 43, I’m excited to share another series of enriching lunch conversations. This week, I’ll have the pleasure of meeting esteemed colleagues from Europe, likely at airports or railway stations, given their busy travel schedules!

On Monday, I’ll meet Professor Kaija Saranto, a leading Health and Human Services Informatics expert from the University of Eastern Finland. Kaija’s contributions have been instrumental in shaping education and research in our field, and I’m eager to hear her thoughts on future academic developments.

On Tuesday, I’ll have lunch with Rada Hussein, who spearheads the discussion about a new Working Group on the European Health Data Space (EHDS) within EFMI. Rada’s work is vital in shaping the next generation of health informatics leaders, and we’ll explore ways to foster collaboration across Europe.

I hope to catch up with Persephone Doupi, EFMI’s Vice President from Finland, on Wednesday. Persephone’s expertise in public health informatics has been essential to the Nordic region’s advancements. Our discussion will likely focus on practical approaches to implementing health data frameworks across Europe.

Thursday, we will speak with Dipak Kalra, who has been leading crucial discussions around health data governance and standardization. Dipak’s insights are key as we prepare for updates on EHDS and future collaborations across member states.

Finally, on Friday, Laura-Maria Peltonen will join us for a discussion. Laura-Maria has been pivotal in bridging the gap between industry and academia within EFMI, and we’ll focus on creating meaningful partnerships between these sectors.

I’m happy to report that last week’s hunt was a success—I’m feeling refreshed and ready for more stimulating dialogues! As we meet on the move, I’m reminded of Heraclitus’ words: “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river, and he’s not the same man.” Our ideas, like our journeys, are constantly evolving.

I also want to share that the program for the upcoming Dagar om Lagar conference, organized by SFMI, is now available at www.dagaromlagar.se. Be sure to check it out and stay informed during the two-day November 6-7 event.

I hope you’ll join us for these inspiring lunchtime discussions, even while we travel!
